The Role of SAQA Staff Members in Standards Setting

The Director of standards Settings and Development is responsible for:
-managing the standards settings system.
-promoting the objectives of the NQF.
-liaising with the head, Standards Setting.
communication between the Authority and the NSBs.
-managing the financial and human resources within the directorate.
The Head of Standards Setting is responsible for:

    • managing the Division of Standards Setting (DSS) staff
    • establishing and implementing a viable and smooth running system for standards setting
    • overseeing the management of all NSB activities
    • overseeing the registration of SGBs
    • overseeing the registration of qualifications and standards
    • updating stakeholders involved in standards setting
    • smooth running of the NSBs
    • recommendation of expenditure of budgets within agreed guidelines

The NSB Co-ordinator’s role is to assist the deputy directors in framework implementation. This includes:

    • helping to establish registered and accredited bodies according to the NQF legislation and requirements
    • providing professional support to SAQA bodies operating within the NQF, including NSBs and SGBs
    • helping to establish registered and accredited bodies according to the NQF legislation and requirements
    • providing professional support to SAQA bodies operating within the NQF, including NSBs and SGBs
    • seeking and exchanging information relevant to NQF developments for fields or secotrs.
    • keeping and maintaining administrative systems for the specific registered or accredited bodies.
    • assisting in the drafting of annual work plans and budgets as well as monitoring the progress made.
    • assisting in the registration of qualifications and standards
    • managing the relevant NSB and its activities.
